An on-demand scan for viruses and malware can be performed by using a Scan Profile. A scan profile is a set of drives and directories to be scanned. You can either use a predefined scan profile or customize and use the scan profile.

An on-demand scan for viruses and malware can also be performed by simply dragging and dropping the files into the control center.You can also right click a file and Select “Scan selected files with AntiVir” in the context menu. The “Luke Filewalker” window appears and an on-demand scan is started immediately.When the scan is completed, the results are displayed.

You can also create a job to automatically scan the computer system for viruses and malware.To create a job,

• In the Control Center, select the Management >> Scheduler section
• Click the Clock icon (with an overlapping + symbol) and it the result dialog box, give the job a name and, where appropriate, a description.
• In the next dialog box, select “Scan job”.
• The dialog box “Select profile” appears.Select the profile to be scanned.
• In the next dialog box, “Time of job”, select a suitable time for scheduling the scan job. you can also choose “Repeat job if the time has already expired” to carry out past jobs that could not run because the computer was switched off
• In the dialog box “Select display mode”, choose an appropriate display mode
• You can then Select the “Shut down computer” option if you want the computer to shut down automatically when the scan is finished. This option is only available if the display mode is set to minimized or maximized.

Your newly scheduled job appears as activated (check mark) on the homepage of the section Administration >> Scheduler.It should however be noted that after installing the free avira antivir, the scan job “Full system scan” is created in the Scheduler and a full system scan is automatically carried out at a recommended interval.

An infected file can be repaired, if possible.It can be deleted or renamed with a .vir extension so that no direct interaction with the file is possible.You can also choose to move the infected file to the quarantine directory “Infected”. Files in this directory can be repaired in Quarantine at a later data or, if necessary, sent to Avira GmbH.
